In short

Different jobs, sometimes used together

ABBYY Vantage is a low-code intelligent document processing platform built for extraction at scale. It classifies documents and captures their data using pre-trained skills, then passes that data to other systems. Aurus.ai starts where extraction ends: it reconciles the extracted data against the other documents in the transaction and against your ERP, names every conflict in dollars, and routes it to an owner with a deadline.

ABBYY's strengths

Where ABBYY Vantage is strong

Mature extraction

Decades of OCR and capture work behind it. Vantage is the successor to ABBYY FlexiCapture.

Pre-trained skills

A marketplace of ready-made skills for common documents such as invoices, purchase orders, receipts and IDs.

No-code skill design

Business analysts can train custom document skills without developers.

RPA ecosystem

Connectors for UiPath, Blue Prism and Automation Anywhere, plus a REST API.

Deployment choice

ABBYY's cloud, a private cloud, or on-premise.

The difference

What Aurus does that extraction does not

Reconciles across documents

Invoice against purchase order, receipt and contract price; contract against its amendments; loan application against pay stubs.

Checks the ERP

Compares what the documents say with what the system of record holds, and writes validated results back.

Names the problem in dollars

Overbilling, unbilled change orders, short-pays and unapplied cash, each with its document and clause.

Decides urgency and ownership

Every exception gets a criticality, an owner and a deadline, and escalates on breach.

Products for the buyer

CFO 360 for finance, Lexara for legal, KEEL for consulting firms, CONCORD for mortgage, Provenza for healthcare.

Choosing

When to choose which

Choose ABBYY when

You need a general extraction engine across many document types, inside an RPA program, with your own team building the workflow.

Choose Aurus when

Extraction is not your problem; disagreement is. You need to know which invoices, contracts or files are wrong, by how much, and who fixes them.

Use both when

ABBYY already feeds your systems. Aurus can sit downstream and reconcile what it extracts.

Be aware

Aurus is an earlier-stage company at design-partner stage, without ABBYY's install base or analyst coverage. Test both on your own documents.

Questions

Common questions

Is Aurus.ai an ABBYY alternative?

For reconciliation work, yes. For pure high-volume extraction feeding an RPA program, ABBYY is the more established choice, and Aurus can work alongside it.

Can Aurus use data ABBYY already extracts?

Aurus reads documents itself and connects to your ERP and other systems through APIs; talk to us about taking data from an existing capture tool.

Which is more accurate?

We do not publish an accuracy comparison. Aurus has not yet published measured accuracy from live deployments. Run both on a sample of your own documents and compare.

How do I compare them fairly?

Use the same documents, measure field accuracy and exceptions found, and count the hours your team still spends after each tool has run.

Where did the ABBYY details come from?

Competitor details are taken from each vendor's public materials as of October 2026. If something here is out of date, email hello@aurus.ai and we will correct it.
